Hi Everyone,
Jen -- I know I have been in a lull. Both posting and dieting.
But, today is the start of my comback. I went back to Weight Watchers. Havn't been there in a couple months. Now I have to pay $13 every week until I get back down to my goal. I'm determine to just go and pay. I know Weight Watchers is proven to be successful for me.
Today at the meeting they talked about getting bored eating the same thing everyday because it low points you don't have to think about tracking it. But, I was thinking to myself I have to get back to that same boring food.
Miz Bear -- Keep up the good work.
Marje -- Hope you feel totally better soon. I agree with you about accountablity. When you weigh yourself, well who cares if you gain. But when you are in a group you have to face up to someone else.

Marje, thanks for the note on 'all or nothing'. It's so true and I'm an all or nothing person. Especially with exercise and diet. I hope you're feeling better and keep us posted on TOPS. I'm not real familiar but it sounds like having this as a support may be positive.
Mike, I hear ya on going back to the 'same old routine'. My aunt was telling me that the WW cookbook is fantastic. Do you cook? Maybe a good goal would be to challenge yourself to cook one new recipe a week from the book. I always find that once I make a recipe, its still so easy to recreate I'm more likely to make it again. Before you know it you'll have a laundry list of foods to make ...
Jen and Miz, hang in there and hold steady if not losing ... at least you're maintaining and that is positive.
I'm on the same boat. I had my weigh in this am. My goal was 148 and I weighed in at 148.8. My goal for next Saturday is 147. I did EVERYTHING right this week. I'm not going to let it get me down. The ladies on the board can understand there are just some weeks we are heavier than others but I know that will come and go too.
Have a good weekend all. We are seeing the sunshine and decent weather for the first time this winter. It was 45 yesterday! I almost took out my open toe shoes ... _________________ SD: 8.23.09

MIKE,
THIS REALLY SOUNDS LIKE OUR ROCK TALKING. YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY BACK TO NOT PAYING ONE DIME TO WW. THE SUGGESTION ABOUT COOKING SOMETHING IS A GOOD ONE. IF YOU DON'T COOK, WOULD DEAR WIFEY DO IT FOR YOU. MAYBE MAKE ONE THING AND MAKE ENOUGH TO FREEZE SOME? IF NO ONE DOES IT, THEN FIND SOMETHING NEW THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO COOK AT ALL. THERE IS JUST SO MUCH OUT THERE. NO NEED FOR BOREDOM THESE DAYS.
THE ACCOUNTABILITY TO OTHERS MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE FOR SOME PEOPLE. I WAS SO PLEASED WHEN ONE MEMBER WHO HAD BEEN AT TOPS FOR OVER A YEAR AND DID NOTHING BUT THAT YO YO DIETING, SAID I INSPIRED HER. THAT MADE IT EVEN MORE IMPORTANT TO DO WELL. COULDN'T LET HER DOWN.
CHICAGO,
TOPS, TAKE OFF POUNDS SENSIBLY, IS A GREAT GROUP. VERY INEXPENSIVE TOO. 13.00 WW I PAID 4.00 A WEEK AT TOPS.
HERE IS A LITTLE BIT OF SOMETHING FROM A TOPS MAGAZINE
I LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND WHAT DO I SEE? AN UNHEALTHY PERSON WHO HAPPENS TO BE ME. HOW DID I GET HERE? WHO CAN I BLAME? AND HOW CAN I WIN THIS LIFELONG GAME?
I LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND KNOW IT'S A FACT, IN ORDER TO LOSE THIS WEIGHT, I MUST ACT. I'LL AWAKEN EACH DAY WITH THIS THOUGHT I NOW TREASURE, I'M ACCOUNTABLE TO ME, SO WATCH OUT, TAPE MEASURE.
I AM FEELING GOOD VIBES FROM SEVERAL OF OUR MEMBERS. I JUST WISH WE COULD HAVE SEEN MORE GOAL POSTING FOR MARCH. I AM DISAPPOINTED AND FEEL SAD FOR THOSE NOT PARTICIPATING. THERE IS STILL TIME, PLEASE GUYS, COME JOIN US. NO ONE SAYS IT IS EASY.
WHAT WE KNOW IS THAT NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS.
LOOK FORWARD TO SPRINGTIME AND SUMMER. NEVER LOOK BACK AND NEVER GIVE UP.

Mike, I agree with Marje, you sound like your old self.
Marje, I sent a private message (which sends them an email) to everyone in the group at the start of March asking them to check in. Most have not even been read. Not sure why. I guess the January effect (lets start new) has worn off some people.
Now, I need to get my butt going.

I get my new glasses ordered today- I am getting "skinny" glasses. Something that I can comfortably wear once I lose the rest of this weight. It also gives me some incentive- fat girl in skinny glasses is just not cute- and I am having the hairdresser look at my hair when I have it trimmed this week to see if I can grow it back out a little- maybe a chic little bob. I can always dye the grey out. When I see the doctor this week for my check up, I am going to ask her if I can do the Avon 3 day Breast Cancer event- I have no one to walk with because my best friend is having kidney surgery today and the walk is in May, but I think I can do it.
I had my cable installed this morning so I now can get some exercise programs on tv and can get workout music right on the tv. _________________ SW- 200

JEN,
I UNDERSTOOD THE PM TO EVERYONE, BUT WAS HOPING FOR A BETTER RESPONSE. I AM STILL HOPING SOME LATE COMERS WILL TURN UP.
FEELING A LITTLE SORRY FOR MYSELF, WHICH I TRY HARD NOT TO DO. I JUST SEE THE BEAUTIFUL WEATHER OUT THERE AND I AM TOO SICK TO GO OUT RIGHT NOW.
HAVE A WONDERFUL HEALTHY WEEK FRIENDS,

Marje- I know it stinks to not be able to go out right now, but think about when you can go out again. My new cookbooks just came today- yummy but healthy stuff- for our resident vegetarian- one of them is the Moosewood Restaurant Cooking for Health Cookbook. Also Ellie Krieger, Giada, and 2 others. _________________ SW- 200

I hear ya! Just been super busy lately!
I'll make is short and sweet but you know how 'short' my postings can be!
March started off busy! The end of Feb we took a trip to my Dad's house and bar up in the far northwoods of Wisconsin. Long trip that was refreshing. We cleaned A LOT! Played with the kids a little and headed back home.
When we came back my week wasn't done with physical labor! I still had storage boxes to move in the office. And not 85 of them, just about 35 downstairs full! A dozen or so trips up and down the stairs was enough workout (plus cleaning at my Dad's) to forego logging in here or working out to me Wii Fitness. Oh well. I know at least I worked something out! The week ended with my son's banquet. He was nominated and placed on second team for Pop Warner All American Scholars!! We are so proud of him! Scholars awards are about grades and accomplishments not associated with sports. You can be a great football player but you must display something other than that off the field. He can go far with it too! 8th graders (he's in 5th) can earn up to $1000 of scholarhip money!!! A famous Colt was a Pop Warner alumni too! Ever heard of Peyton Manning!!
And don't worry about the banquet food! OMG!!! YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO LAUGH AT THIS ONE!!! Salad comes right? I'm expecting a small plate of crisp lettuce, maybe some shredded carrots, cuccumber. Ready? You sure? IT WAS (AND MY SON COUNTED!) 3 LEAVES OF ROMAINE LETTUCE, 2 VERY SMALL CROUTONS AND ABOUT 12 LITTLE SHREDS OF CHEESE! I could not stop giggling along with the rest of our table! This big ol' fancy hotel and this is what they called a salad? I put more lettuce on my burger! Main meal was a little better: 2 small grilled chicken breast, a scoop of mashed potatos, but wait....4 skinny little string of beans! Oh yeah, and 2 strings of carrots! A coffee stirrer is thicker than the veggies they served! Too funny!
This week I gathered up my thoughts again and got all my 'normal' things in order. Birthday party this weekend for my older brother, no worries on eating there his fiance goes light for everyone. Husband and I will be joining our local gym hopefully this weekend. 3 days a week. I'll hop back on my Wii Fitness train this weekend. Maya (that's my lady on there) won't be too happy I missed this much but hey, you can't exactly punch in what you have been doing either!
Good luck to everyone with their goals this month!
Mine? Oh crap, I knew you would ask:
1- Stay on track with my mind focus to do something about my weight; lose it, don't gain anymore!
2-Keep moving!! All day!!! Don't go more than an hour without getting up to do something for 5-10 minutes!
3-(Gulp!) Lose 1-2 pounds. Please Marvin! Let me lose 1-2 pounds!

CAROL,
SO GLAD YOU ARE POSTING YOUR GOALS. BETTER A LITTLE LATE THAN NEVER. CONGRATS TO YOUR SON, WONDERFUL. THE SALAD WAS REALLY FUNNY. STRANGE HOW THEY DON'T GIVE YOU MUCH OF THE HEALTHIER FOODS. I NOTICE THE CUCUMBER IN THE SALADS IS LESS AND LESS WHERE I GO. I HAVE NOW STARTED TELLING THEM TO DOUBLE THE CUCUMBER.
WISH YOU A SUCCESSFUL MARCH. DON'T FORGET ABOUT GOALS BEING SHORT AND SPECIFIC. THINK ABOUT TWO SPECIFIC THINGS YOU WILL DO TO LOSE THE 1 OR 2 LBS IN MARCH. MAYBE THERE IS A CERTAIN FOOD THAT YOU WANT TO GIVE UP OR CUT DOWN ON AND STAYING BUSY AND ACTIVE ALL DAY IS GREAT , BUT WILL WE NEED TO SEND IN PARAMEDICS? LOL
MAKE ONE GOAL FINDING TIME TO LET US KNOW HOW YOU ARE DOING. IT CAN BE SHORT AND SWEET. MISS YOUR POSTS.

I am having a good news bad news week. My mother has been diagnosed with full blown diabetes- no needles yet- but she has to take oral meds and test also been told to lose 70 pounds. I had my eye exam done and my eyes have not changed- so I still had to buy new glasses since mine were all messed up, but at least I know they hadn't gotten any worse.
Went for my yearly, have to have minor surgery beginning or April, but I am more concerned about biopsy results- will keep you posted as results come in. _________________ SW- 200

MIZ,
THROUGH MY MANY YEARS HAVE KNOWN SO MANY WHO COULD HAVE STOPPED THE DIABETES IN IT'S TRACKS HAD THEY LOST WEIGHT. I HOPE THAT CAN HAPPEN FOR YOUR MOM.
GLAD YOUR EYES ARE OK BUT SORRY TO HEAR YOU ARE CONCERNED OVER BIOPSY RESULTS AND HAVE TO GO FOR SURGERY IN APRIL. I WILL KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS. BE SURE TO LET US KNOW ASAP.
HOPE YOU ARE STILL DOING WELL WITH YOUR EATING PLANS. LIFE IS FULL OF UPS AND DOWNS AND I AM STILL LEARNING TO DEAL WITH THE BAD WITHOUT UPSETTING MY OWN HEALTH AND WELL BEING.

Hi All,
Miz, I always feel good when I do something to refresh my look, like a hair cut or glasses.
Marje, I'm sorry you're feeling a bit down. I know I struggle this time of year due to the long winter season.
Carol, glad to hear you took a trip. A break from the usual is always good!
Jen and Mike, hope all is well with WW.
I'm proud to report I'm doing really well this week on my eating habits. I'll have my weekly weigh in this Saturday. My goal for this Saturday is 147 lbs and I'm feeling it's definitely within my reach.
Have a great Friday everyone! The weather in Chicago is amazing, it's 60 degrees today, whoa _________________ SD: 8.23.09
